Loaner Laptops

The Library has 10 laptop computers available for loan.

Who May Borrow
Eligible borrowers must have a valid UConn Health ID and a network username and password (required for logging into the laptop).

The circulation period is 3 days. The circulation period may not be renewed. Returning a laptop past its due date is subject to a $15 fine.

The patron will be required to sign a "Laptop Borrower's Agreement" outlining the patron's responsibilities if the laptops (or its parts) are not returned. The Agreement also states that the patron will abide by the IT Computer Use Policies.
Please be aware that use of the laptop is on a "self-service" basis. Printed instructions are provided to help you connect the cables and operate the laptop. Refer to the instructions for assistance.

Some procedures may be different than those followed at your desktop, notably logging on and saving documents, please be aware of these.

Library staff is not available to provide software application (Word, Excel, etc.) support. Utilize the "Help" menu in the application or refer to books in the library (see OneSearch) regarding that application.

Medical and Dental School Students

Medical and Dental School students should contact the Computer Education Center for issues regarding their laptops. If a loaner laptop is required while the student's laptop is being repaired, the loaner will be provided by the CEC. If demand for loaners exceeds the CEC supply, CEC personnel will direct the student to the Library Information Desk to obtain a loaner laptop.

Loaner Laptops for Etesting
First and second year students should contact Christine McNally at the HOME office (x2602, AM019) to reserve a laptop if their own laptop is malfunctioning to the extent that it cannot be used to take the exam.

Third and fourth year medical students should contact the HOME office first (x2602, AM019) if the request is made in advance. Third and fourth year dental students should contact the Computer Education Center if their laptop cannot be used for etesting. The CEC has a limited number of etesting laptops available so please only request one if your laptop is malfunctioning.

Although the Library's loaner laptops include the etesting software, they are not set up with the optimal etesting configuration. The options listed above are best when borrowing a laptop for etesting.
